The original title of this novel is “Animal Farm: A Fairy Story”. It was publish in English Language on 17 August 1945. The author of this novel is George Orwell. Its main theme is political satire. The events related to Russian Revolution of 1917 and Stalinist eras of Soviet Union are described in this novel. He believed that Soviet Union had been using mass media and other methods to create heroic and idealized images of themselves, so that they remain unquestioned and people praise them.
Soviet Union was doing this to build their merciless, pitiless, brutal and in human dictatorship. He once wrote a letter to Yvonne Davit in which he described his book satire against Staline. He also wrote an essay in 1946 named “Why I Write”. In this essay he explained his purpose of writing this book; he said that this was his first book which he has written in full consciousness to describe the political issues.

As described earlier that original title of this book was “Animal Farm: A fairy Story” but U.S publisher only used “Animal Farm” while publishing in 1946. It’s others titles include “A Contemporary Satire” and “A Satire”.
George Orwell wrote this book in 1943 and 1944.At that UK had its alliance with Soviet Union. People of British considered Stalin with high esteem. George Orwell hated these ideas among people. At the time of publication this book was rejected by large number of American and British publishers, because of its topic and theme. After its publication this book became the most famous book of that time.
This book has won many titles and awards. In 1996 this book won Hugo Award. This book has also been included in “Great books of the Western World”. This book has been chosen for the list of 100 best English Language Novels by time Magazine from 1923 to 2005. It holds 31st position on the list of Best 20th Century Novels of modern library.
Along with positive reviews this book also received critical response. George Soule expressed his views and disappointment about this book in American New Republic Magazine. He said that this book had saddened him and the views which could have been described directly were said in a very clumsy way. He said that according to him the failure of this book was because of the ideas author has shared in this book. Therefore ideas were never even experienced by himself. These are just the ideas about country he does not know very well.
Tosce Fyvel while expressing his views in Tribune on 24th August 1945 said that this book shows the era which we have left behind us and does not describe our age.
A radio production was made in January 2013 on BBC Radio4. “Animal Farm” has also been used to make films twice. In 1954 animated film “Animal Farm” was released and another film was released in 1999. In year 2012, Andy Serkis announced HFR-3D version of this novel. It was also adapted as theatre show in 1984, which was also shown in nine cities by 1985. Animal Farm has also been used in several music albums in year 1997, 1954, 2000, 2014 etc. Several television shows are also inspired by this novel.
This novel is written in simple style and shows how quickly people fight for themselves and their rights. This novel is a timeless classic novel and explains a lot of human nature.
This novel also shows that how the mechanism of brain washing and propaganda works on people mind. This novel is actually a master piece of its time. People still love to read this novel.
